Weichert, Realtors Downum Group recently met with Tim Conklin of the Northwest Arkansas Regional Planning Commission to discuss some of the projects happening in NW Arkansas. The NW Arkansas Regional Planning Commission is a planning organization that serves local units of govenment with studies and plans that help with the development to make the area a desirable place to live and work.
Some of the projects we discussed were:
- The Razorback Greenway – the trail that will connect Fayetteville with Bella Vista via Johnson, Springdale, Lowell, Rogers and Bentonville. The Grand Opening ceremony for this 36 mile long trail is set for May 2nd at the Shiloh Square in downtown Springdale.
- Another great project the NWARPC is working on is the Arkansas State Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan. This plan will show how the trails interconnect with each other. There is a regional map available on their website.
- The last project that was highlighted was the NW Arkansas Open Space Plan. The purpose of this project is to promote and protect the region’s most valued open spaces and natural landscapes. They are taking recommendations of locations on their website so if you have a space that you would like to see remain a green space, they would love to hear from you.
The NW Arkansas Regional Planning Commission is located at 1311 Clayton Street in Springdale. The website can be found at www.nwarpc.org
